It's official. Styleposium has a girl crush.

I had previously held the belief that fashion, as a visual medium, was best expressed "as is."  Any attempt to put it into words usually resulted in something aggravating and dull.

Cintra Wilson, can talk to me about clothes any day.

Like her, I am hopelessly insatiable when it comes to observing style - time, place, circumstance be damned.  However, unlike her, her distinct turn of words:  sharp, affectionate, humorous...renders me spellbound and repulsed by her colorful portraits of American style.

Find out more here.

Thanks for the road trip, Ms. Wilson.

Note to readers:
Beware ingesting food and drink
while reading Fear and Clothing,
lest it spurt out your nose.

The following message is one that Styleposium gets behind 100% with the enthusiasm of a first-rate marching band doing a mash-up of Prince and Bowie:
"Finding your style is like finding your God - it's utterly personal.
You find your truths wherever they find you
and you recognize them
because they irresistibly resonate with you
."

- Cintra Wilson, from Fear and Clothing:  Unbuckling American Style.

Today kicks off Fashion Revolution Week 2016!
Styleposium will be participating on Instagram to help spread #whomademyclothes and if you feel compelled, you may join the fun @themakerandmender.
Below are two short videos.  One is a tribute to the time, skill, and resources involved in the of making scarves,   The latter profiles a talented and committed shoemaker in Minneapolis.  By the way, Happy tax day, US visitors!  Did you get a refund?!

Hello Makers and Menders, thank you for visiting Styleposium.  A quick update:  posts may be a little shorter for the next few weeks due to travel.  Thanks for understanding.
Too bad it's been ga-gorgeous outside because all I want to do is watch Viceland.  It's a treasure trove of fascinating stories behind clothes, identity, and politics.  Below is a trailer for States of Undress. I highly recommend episode 1 in Pakistan.

Sewing can be a solitary hobby, but it doesn't have to be.  Enjoy some fine storytelling and be in the good company of fellow makers through the power of podcasting.  Below are three programs specifically geared for the clothing-minded.

Self-explanatory, but here is a quote from Harper's,Bazaar, "For the true fashion nerd at heart, American Fashion goes in-depth to all the in's and out's of the fashion industry as a whole."
