Love Song to Vintage

It's time travel,
storytelling,
a life legacy imbued with
imagination.

A quality in
materials and craftsmanship
that is often missing in modern RTW production.

Coupled with a good alterationist,
you may have yourself
something that I've heard called,
"poor-man's couture."

A couple resources:

A good place to start for education and research.

Jessica Parker of No Accounting for Taste
runs a delightful and informative blog
where she shares her love of vintage clothing, designer profiles, and more.
If you're new to vintage,
you may enjoy
this series she wrote on
Building a Vintage Closet.

Of course, no one could speak to vintage
like Bill Cunningham.
This week was NYFW's first season in decades to be without the Master.

Gone, but not forgotten.  You are dearly missed, Bill.
I wonder if anyone showed him this app,
called Thread Genius.
I'm a little partial to
"Robo Bill Cunningham"
myself....

Can almost hear him saying, "oh, you kids!"
Excuse me.
I have something in my eye...
