Would you show up wearing the same thing to multiple special events?
Nina Simone did. Here In her own words:
(The interviewer is in parenthesizes.)
"If you come out and you look the way you want to look,
you will create a mood before you open your mouth."
and sometimes that can be enough
to get your audience
exactly in the groove where you want them.
Like last year I wore the same gown for a year everywhere I went.
I wanted people to remember me looking a certain way.
It made it easier for me.
(What was the gown like?)
It was a black crocheted fishnet jumpsuit with a flesh-colored lining.
So when I came onstage...

I loved that.
It always stopped people enough that

For example, as a wedding dress
might be passed down, generation to generation.
and how is that not a thing for men?
"Wouldn't y'know it:
I could fit in to my great-grandpa's tux!"
...said no man ever.
(For the record, I'd love to be challenged on that.)
Jumping back to "the Uniform."
Technically, these people may not be in actual uniforms,
but you will always find them in their specific look.
Something so comforting and solid
in the consistency and routine.
Something wonderful happens:
a special alchemy
when you stay true to yourself and what you love.
You end up at your

well that can be special too.
Perhaps one could say,
When the familiar is set on it's side
